Professor Andrews work straddles the boundaries of history and media studies and their inter-relationship with particular reference to debates around: the rural, domesticity, identity and the role of 'the past' within popular culture. Her publications include The Acceptable Face of Feminism: The Women's Institute Movement 1915-1960 (Lawrence and Wishart 1997) and All the World and Her Husband, jointly edited with Mary Talbot (Cassell 2000). She is particularly interested in the role of television amd the internet in mediating images of both remembrance and wartime in contemporary culture, and how the meanings of such images are contested by multifarious viewers.
